Decent Camera - For the Money September 7, 2010 StevieSnacks 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall, not a bad purchase for the money. Key phrase: "FOR THE MONEY".
The camera has some nice features and is really easy to use. It felt comfortable in my hands and the battery life was great compared to some other inexpensive cameras I've owned. The battery/lense cover are cheapies. One wrong move and you could easily render this camera useless if you break the battery door.
So - aside from the cheap parts (what do you expect out of a $170 camera?) let's talk about picture quality. I will start by saying I do not consider myself an advanced photographer. Maybe I could have played around with the aperture and shutter speeds a little more to get better photos but who knows? I primarily take pictures of cars - sitting still. Most of the pictures I would shoot would come out a little blurry. This is a problem for me. I was able to get SOME decent snaps but majority of them would come out a little fuzzy.
Also, the camera would sometimes power down randomly and would also freeze up occasionally.
Now - before I ever purchased the camera I was in a stand still over which camera to buy: Fujifilm s1800 OR Nikon L110. I went ahead and purchased the Fuji because of the cheaper price. Little did I know, one of my close friends actually owns the Nikon L110. After playing around with it for a bit I decided I needed to send the Fuji back and get the Nikon. The camera feels so much more sturdy and also takes much better pictures not to mention the lCD is actually clear and not grainy.
All in all - take a trip to Target and test the two cameras out prior to purchasing. The Fuji may actually suit your needs just fine.
Gutta have one!!! LOVE IT!!!! September 7, 2010 DACADA I love it. Sooo easy to use..Picture are awesome. Awesome zoom thing look like there are inches away. I think everyone should have this camera. It takes AA batteries that make's it easy. It uses a disk that u can find anywhere. I can't think of a bad thing to say. For the price and quality of pictures you can't go wrong with this buy.
In love of this camera! September 6, 2010 Luis Sebastian Pire Boada (Texas,USA) I`m gonna be simple here, this is an extremely good option for those who are looking Good, Great and Cheap camera! Not spending so much money as a nikon or a canon cost (hey, those cameras are great too) but here you are paying half of their price and you are receiving absolute great quality! I couldn`t be happier than now with my Fujifilm S1800! It`s light, if you use it with Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries plus 8Gb memory stick, you`ll have enough fun during your trips!
love it! September 4, 2010 Kari L. Johnson (Reno) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this camera. Wanted to get an SLR with changeable lenses, but wasn't willing to pay the money for one. This camera is awesome, it has a fantastic zoom, you can choose what you want the focus to be on by holding down the shutter button halfway and ten oushing it the rest of the way to take the picture. Macro option works awesome for close-ups, and the panoramic feature is so cool! You can connect three frames into one. Main drawback is while doing video if you zoom and out you can hear the motor grinding. Also a lot of lag time after pushing the button and taking the picture, so you have to anticipate the timing if photographing moving objects or expressions on peoples faces, kind of frustrating especially for faces, but awesome for landscapes and other still photography.
defective unit August 27, 2010 Walter C. Chance 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The camera was defective. Only used it one weekend and it shut off without warning twice, told me to "turn off and back on" once, seemed to freeze up on several occasions and wouldn't let me turn it off or use any of the adjustments for a few second, and the view finder and LCD screen turned green and white once and purple several times. I took well over 200 shots using wide angle, zoom, close up, w/ and w/o flash, video... with full auto and the various programmable modes, all at maximum resolution, and over 3/4th of these were blurred. Of these 40 or so, none came out as sharp as pics from my Fuji S7000 at 6meg or my Pentax Optio 330 at 3 meg. In certain modes the anti-shake was on, didn't seem to make a difference. I really like my S7000, but wanted an upgrade. Not this one!
I liked the size, great zoom, and adjustable parameters on this model. But way too many problems came up. Might just be a defective unit... but it's going back today. One other thing is that the surface of the LCD screen protrudes out by itself and will end up getting scratched very fast. Didn't even want to carry it for fear of scratching against the buttons of my shirt.
Am trying the Pentax DSLR K-x at $499.00. Less lens and a lot more expensive, but I sure hope it lives up to my expectations.
